The Trusted Agent standard
Know exactly who you are trusting.
Anyone can call themselves an insurance agent. A Trusted Agent has been verified against a published standard: state-licensed, appointed with A-rated carriers, cleared by those carriers, and reviewed on product knowledge and ethics. When you see the check, that work is already done.

Requirements
- State-licensed
- Carrier-appointed
- Carrier-cleared
- Quality-reviewed
01
State-licensed
We confirm an active life insurance license through the national producer database, matched to the agent's National Producer Number.
02
Carrier-appointed
We confirm live appointments with real A-rated carriers, so the agent can actually write the coverage they recommend rather than only quote it.
03
Carrier-cleared
Carriers run their own background and character screening before they appoint an agent. We confirm those appointments are active and in good standing.
04
Quality-reviewed
The agent passes our product-knowledge and ethics assessment and signs the Trusted Agent code of conduct.
What the check means
A standard you can check, not a badge someone bought.
Trusted Agent publishes what verification requires and applies it the same way to every agent. A subscription buys a listing in the directory. It does not buy the check, and it cannot keep the check if a credential lapses.
- Verification is re-checked annually.
- It is re-checked immediately on notice of a license lapse, a terminated appointment, or a regulatory action.
- Money buys directory placement, never the check.
- Trusted Agent is not an insurer and does not sell insurance.
How verification works
Every step has to clear.
Step 01
Identity and license
The agent is matched to their National Producer Number and the license is confirmed active and unencumbered in every state they list.
Step 02
Carrier appointments
Appointments with A-rated carriers are confirmed live and in good standing, which also evidences the carriers' own screening.
Step 03
Knowledge and ethics
The agent sits our product-knowledge and ethics assessment and signs the Trusted Agent code of conduct.
Step 04
Review and publish
Only after every prior step clears does the agent receive the check and a verified profile.
Step 05
Ongoing monitoring
Verification is re-checked annually, and immediately on notice of a lapse, a terminated appointment, or a regulatory action.
